Storyboard

In order to efficiently map out the chronological order of the narrative for the music video, we created a storyboard.

The storyboard for ideal for aiding the creative process of the animatic as it served as a constant reminder of both the narrative and studio shot structure. In addition it was particularly useful for situations when only member of the group was working on the animatic as they could always refer back to the storyboard regardless of whether they had another person assisting them or not.

Using post-it notes allowed us to quickly and easily edit, adapt and add to our storyboard when a new idea sprouts to mind.

Green post-it notes were used to represent shots taken from within the studio. For these we drew a quick sketch/diagram of the envisioned shot because the accuracy and consistency of framing is very important in regards to using high tech equipment to achieve a professional looking product. For additional guidance we also annotated each note with details about camera movement and actor movement. On a note underneath the sketch we also wrote the lyrics of the shot to aid timings.

Orange post-it notes were used to represent narrative shots taken off site. They simply had writing on them to remind us of each shots' content and type. We didn't have sketches for these because the shots are intended to seem natural and keeping too closely a rigid choreography will only make them seem unnatural.
